Filmed in Chino Hills, CA, and edited in New York, The Future Is Worn could reflect a recent post-pandemic relationship. One in which we had to isolate ourselves in the land of fear, and have slowly had to deal with getting out of our shells (representing our homes), and back into the world.

Perhaps nothing in this analysis might ring true to anyone else. However, I believe that artists create, and charge their medium with an intention, yet the audience perceives, what they are ready to have revealed within themselves.

For Brittany Bagwell (Executive Producer & CEO of Havelock Studios), when someone approaches her production company seeking to collaborate, she needs to feel connected to either the piece or the client; in this case, both were true. In this creative industry, having a great team is paramount. The domino effect of relationships is something that Bagwell truly appreciates and doesn’t take for granted. She believes "Every person in this journey was integral to the piece”.

With stunning cinematography and editing, a futuristic yet simple costume design, and tasteful performances, this short music fable is sure to make the festival rounds.

But Bagwell wanted to take this work even further. She reached out to her brother who works with children at a Title 1 Elementary school in the suburbs of Atlanta, Georgia, and she tells me: “They were inspired by the short film and produced art of their own. It’s unreal to me, what they have made.”

Havelock Studios is focused on connecting with artists, no matter how old they are, or where they come from. So having a night to showcase children’s work inspired by the film was a natural progression for Bagwell.

God, the sun was burning me right up.

The radiant beams of light, the glare in the corner of my eye. I wondered what I was doing in this wheat field all alone…

In this one sitting position, I imagined myself dancing freely like a bird.

In this long, tall, yellow wheat I cleared my thoughts…

That’s when I soon found myself looking everywhere, until…

I found a beautiful lady who looked so free like she didn’t have a single care in the world, I pulled myself up to join her.

We danced. We danced our hearts out. Such gracefulness in the way we moved, the way our bodies matched each other’s rhythm.

I had a lot of fun as I found myself without a care in the world, and who knows…

Maybe we’ll meet each other again, in another lifetime within the future.

the future is worn.

The art and sculptures were all up for a silent auction, and one hundred percent of the proceeds will go back to the young artists.

A child’s inspiration is one of the purest forms of ART. They are connected and open in a way, that one can only be at that age. So next time a child gives you a dribble, think twice about its worth. They are gifting you with a little piece of creative innocence. And that is priceless.
