Alexis Mabille Haute Couture Spring-Summer 2024 "Mirror, Mirror"

With my café au lait in one hand, and my umbrella on the other, I braved the cold Parisian rain to witness Alexis Mabille’s Haute Couture show titled “Mirror, Mirror”.

This is the second year I have attended Alexis Mabille’s show, and not even an unfortunate lighting glitch in our section could dim the beauty of the collection. Look after look, Mabille’s pieces walked down Christie’s on 9 Avenue Matignon to everyone’s delight.

Unlike his 2023 collection “Colors”, this season, Alexi (as he is known to many), focused on subtle, sober, and sophisticated hues that accentuated the silhouettes and craftsmanship of the clothes.

Tuxedo jackets, long shirt dresses, backless dresses, and many sheer ensembles reminded us that elegance and sophistication can be minimal, but never boring in Mabille’s couture world.

Haute Couture serves as a driving force for creativity and innovation in fashion, shaping the industry and influencing fashion choices across all levels of society. It sets the tone for what eventually ends up in every store across the world. Elements such as silhouettes, color palettes, fabric choices, and even embellishments from Haute Couture collections trickle down to more accessible fashion lines.

Alexis Mabille’s keen attention to detail and expert tailoring reflect his deep appreciation for the art of couture, while his playful use of color and textures always adds a dynamic flair to his collections. His ability to balance classic beauty and avant-garde creativity makes his designs both timeless and fashion-forward.
